# Why Arbitrage Exists and Remains Sustainable

It is important to understand that arbitrage is not a temporary phenomenon or a market inefficiency that will disappear.

It exists because:

* markets are inherently fragmented
* liquidity is unevenly distributed
* price update speeds differ
* different exchanges use different mechanisms
* market participants act asynchronously

Even with high levels of automation, such discrepancies continue to arise, especially in the cryptocurrency environment, where:

* volatility is high
* the number of trading venues is large
* infrastructure is decentralized

This is why arbitrage is considered one of the most resilient models when supported by proper technological execution.

One of the key advantages of the Illuminance model is its independence from market direction.

The system:

* does not depend on price growth or decline
* does not rely on directional bets
* does not use speculative forecasting

It can operate:

* in rising markets
* in falling markets
* in sideways conditions
