# Where Revenue Comes From

The economic model of Illuminance is built on one of the most fundamental principles of financial markets — market inefficiency.

Any market, especially a global and decentralized one, is not perfectly synchronized.\
Even when referring to the same asset (for example, BTC), its price may differ:

* across different centralized exchanges
* across decentralized platforms (DEXs)
* across different trading pairs
* across different blockchain environments
* depending on liquidity and trading volume

These differences may appear minor at a given moment, but when combined with high processing speed and a large number of operations, they form a sustainable economic model.

Crypto arbitrage is a trading strategy in which the system:

* buys an asset where it is priced lower
* simultaneously sells it where it is priced higher

The price difference generates profit.

The key point is that this model does not require prediction.\
The system does not attempt to forecast market direction, but operates on already existing discrepancies.

***

This approach shifts profit generation from uncertain predictions to measurable price differences that naturally exist across fragmented markets.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://illuminance.gitbook.io/docs/economic-foundation-of-the-system/where-revenue-comes-from.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
